What size buffer pad should I use?

Choose a pad size based on the area: 13-15 inch pads for small rooms and tight spaces, 17 inch for standard commercial floors, and 20 inch for large open areas like halls and warehouses. Larger pads cover more area per hour but are harder to manoeuvre around furniture and corners.

How many passes are needed for buffing?

For spray buffing or burnishing, 1-2 passes is usually enough to restore gloss. For scrubbing, 2-3 passes ensures thorough cleaning. For stripping, 2-4 passes may be needed depending on the number of existing polish layers and how well they have bonded.

How long do buffer pads last?

A buffing pad typically lasts 600-1000 m² of buffing, a scrubbing pad 300-500 m², and a stripping pad 150-250 m². Pad life depends on floor condition, pressure applied and machine speed. Replace pads when they become thin, matted or no longer performing effectively.

What is the difference between buffing and burnishing?

Buffing uses a low-speed rotary machine (150-350 RPM) and is ideal for maintaining a satin finish. Burnishing uses a high-speed machine (1000-2500 RPM) and produces a high-gloss "wet look" finish. Burnishing requires a compatible floor polish rated for high-speed maintenance.
